About Abby Rose Designs

Hi and welcome to Abby Rose Designs :) I’m Abby, the founder, and I’m so happy you found me here!
I’m a silversmith and educator based in San Diego, California, and a lot of my work is inspired by the places I’ve called home over the years, including Dana Point, Eugene, Oregon, San Francisco, and now San Diego. I’m really drawn to organic shapes, natural stones, shells, sea glass, abalone, and anything that feels a little magical, imperfect, or like it could have been found somewhere in nature.
Most of my pieces are one of a kind, and I love finding ways to make each one feel completely its own. Sometimes that means shaping a stone into a heart, using shells or sea glass I found myself, or collaborating with other artists to combine our creative styles into something entirely handmade and unique.
I started Abby Rose Designs in August 2025 after first learning the basics of silversmithing just a few months earlier. I took a workshop to learn soldering, and from there, most of what I learned came from experimenting, messing things up, trying again, and figuring out what worked for me.
That process shaped the way I think about creativity in general. I don’t think art has to be perfect or done exactly the “right” way. Everyone brings their own perspective, experiences, taste, and way of doing things into what they create, and that’s what makes it personal.
I’ve also always been really outdoorsy, and being near water is probably one of the biggest influences on my work. Some of my favorite days are spent camping, swimming, looking for shells, floating in a river, or just being outside somewhere beautiful. I love when the stones and materials I use look like they came straight out of a creek or the ocean, and sometimes they actually did.
More recently, Abby Rose Designs has expanded into education too.
My background is in environmental studies and climate science, and I’ve worked in education, law, local government, mentorship, and communication-focused roles. A big part of those jobs was taking information that felt complicated or inaccessible and breaking it down in a way that people could actually understand.
I’ve absolutely loved getting to bring that skill into silversmithing.
There can be a lot of gatekeeping around creative trades, and I really don’t think learning has to feel that way. I share tutorials, tools, techniques, mistakes I’ve made, things I wish I knew earlier, and a lot of information for free because I genuinely believe there’s enough room for everyone to create.
I also don’t think sharing your process takes anything away from you. No one is ever going to make something exactly the way you would, because they aren’t you. Your perspective will always show up in what you create.
One of the things I care about most is helping people feel less afraid to try something creative just because they might not be immediately good at it. I think making things with your hands can be incredibly grounding and fulfilling, especially in a world where we’re constantly consuming so much information and content.
Outside of jewelry, I’m also really interested in manifestation, psychology, astrology, moon cycles, and using those things as tools to understand myself better and build a life that feels aligned and sustainable. That mindset naturally finds its way into how I approach creativity, business, and the things I make.
At the end of the day, Abby Rose Designs is really a combination of all of those things: making art, learning, experimenting, sharing what I know, and hopefully encouraging other people to trust their own creativity a little more too.
I also genuinely love hearing from you guys, so if you ever have a question, want to show me something you made, or just want to say hi, please feel free to reach out.
I’m really happy you’re here :))
Love, Abby Rose
